What to do immediately in case of online banking or financial cyber fraud?

If you fall victim to financial cyber fraud, unauthorized UPI/ATM debits, OTP scams, or credit card fraud, reporting within the first 1 to 2 hours (the 'Golden Hour') allows authorities to freeze the stolen funds before withdrawal.

Immediate emergency action:

  • Dial 1930 immediately (National Cyber Crime 24/7 Toll-Free Helpline).
  • State your bank name, account number, transaction UTR number, date/time, and the suspect's UPI ID or phone number.
  • The 1930 cyber cell alerts the payment gateway and destination bank to freeze the stolen transaction in real-time.

Lodge official complaint:

  • Visit the national portal (cybercrime.gov.in) within 24 hours to upload transaction screenshots, SMS alerts, and bank statement evidence.
  • Contact your bank immediately to block your compromised debit card or internet banking access.
